Airbus A340 has been cut into pieces, and now you can keep it in your pocket

The company Aviationtag, specialist in the manufacture of decorative labels using pieces of the fuselage of classic aircraft, has just started selling parts of one of the Airbus A340 jets of Air Tahiti Nui. For many years, this plane helped unite the territory of French Polynesia with the rest of the world, on long-haul flights, mainly to the United States and France, boasting its unique and emblematic livery.

This special edition was developed to commemorate the airline's 25th anniversary. The tags are made from repurposed parts of the plane's fuselage and feature the vibrant Air Tahiti Nui livery(image above), and are on sale on the company's website for €32.95 ($35.78).

The aircraft cut to make the parts was the Airbus A340-300 with serial number 395, a jet initially delivered to Sabena but never used due to the collapse of the Belgian airline. It was then transferred to Canada 3000 as C-GZIA, which also broke. So he ended up on Air Tahiti Nui in January 2002 and christened “Bora Bora”. The aircraft logged 62,482 flight hours in 7,600 flight cycles before retiring in December 2018.

Currently, Air Tahiti Nui operates a fleet of four Boeing 787-9s, delivered between October 2018 and August 2019, for long-haul flights.
