Polyvantis unveils LEXAN LITE lightweight sheets at AIX 2026
At a time when every kilogram matters, Polyvantis is introducing a new lever for airlines and OEMs to drive efficiency at scale.
At Aircraft Interiors Expo 2026, Polyvantis will debut LEXAN LITE sheet, an ultra-lightweight foamed polycarbonate concept engineered to reduce weight while maintaining certification, recyclability, and manufacturability.
As fuel continues to represent up to 35% of airline operating costs, lightweighting has become one of the most immediate and scalable paths to lower cost per seat and reduced emissions. Even marginal weight reductions translate directly into fuel savings and CO₂ reduction over the lifecycle of an aircraft.
LEXAN LITE sheet is designed to integrate seamlessly into existing interior architectures, enabling OEMs and Tier suppliers to reduce weight without redesigning entire systems.
Manufactured at Polyvantis’ Centre of Excellence for Mass Transportation solutions in Italy, the platform meets stringent FST (fire, smoke, and toxicity) and OSU (55/55) requirements while enabling greater design flexibility.
• LEXAN F6LITE sheet: Density as low as 0.5kg/dm³
• LEXAN F8LITE sheet: Density as low as 0.8kg/dm³
Compared to traditional solid thermoplastics, LEXAN LITE sheet delivers meaningful weight savings while maintaining structural integrity, durability, and processability.
Bottom line: lighter parts with the same certification pathway and no compromise on performance or recyclability.
LEXAN LITE sheet supports weight reduction across key cabin applications, including panels, seating structures, stowage, monuments, and galley components. Replacing heavier materials helps reduce fuel burn, extend range, or increase payload flexibility.
LEXAN LITE sheet is part of a comprehensive portfolio of thermoplastics, combining PLEXIGLAS and LEXAN sheet technologies under Polyvantis.
At AIX 2026, the company will showcase complementary solutions for advanced interior design, including:
• LEXAN F8000HR sheet for stiffness and fire performance
• LEXAN F8000HI sheet for impact and fire performance
• ULTEM 1668A sheet for multilayer structural applications
• Stretched acrylic solutions for impact resistance and durability
• PLEXIGLAS aviation grades for glazing and transparency
• EUROPLEX PPSU for large, high-performance components
This integrated portfolio allows OEMs and Tier suppliers to source multi-material solutions from a single partner, simplifying qualification and supply chain complexity.
“With LEXAN LITE sheet, we’re giving our customers a practical way to unlock weight savings at scale while maintaining certification, durability, and design freedom,” said Ravi Menon, EVP Commercial – Specialties at Polyvantis. “This supports the next generation of aircraft interiors, where efficiency, performance, and sustainability are built in from the start.”
