Cessna Citation Ascend receives certification in the United States
The Cessna Citation Ascend, a new business jet developed by Textron Aviation, obtained type certification from US civil aviation regulators last Wednesday (5), the final step before deliveries of the first units.
The model is equipped with the Garmin G5000 suite, which features three fourteen-inch high-resolution screens, dual flight management, and synthetic terrain vision. The cockpit also has autothrottle, satellite communication, advanced weather detection, and a data link option for communications between controllers and pilots during North Atlantic crossings, increasing operational efficiency on routes between North America and Europe.
The Pratt & Whitney Canada PW545D engines allow the Ascend to reach a maximum speed of 441kt and a range of 1,940 nautical miles with a payload of 900 pounds with full tanks. Enhanced Efficiency on the Ground and in Flight
The model incorporates a Honeywell RE100[XL] auxiliary power unit, capable of operating autonomously and reducing consumption and noise during cabin thermal conditioning before flight. Enhanced automation aims to optimize preparation and reduce crew effort.
Redesigned Cabin with Comfort and Connectivity...The interior has been completely renovated, adopting a flat floor and advanced acoustic insulation — features already present in the Citation Latitude and Longitude. With capacity for up to twelve passengers, the cabin features 15% larger windows, electronically controlled blinds, and optional lighting rings.
The electrical system offers nineteen USB ports, three universal outlets, and wireless charging. The internal environment can be managed via a wireless remote control, which adjusts lights, temperature, and entertainment. Among the options, the Bongiovi immersive audio system stands out.
For in-flight connectivity, the Ascend comes standard with Gogo Avance L3 Max Wi-Fi and offers global connectivity options via Gogo Galileo HDX, enabling communication and calls in any region.
According to Textron Aviation, the test program accumulated more than 1,000 flight hours until FAA certification. The first aircraft deliveries are expected by December.
