The first Boeing 787 in the TAAG Linhas Aéreas de Angola fleet arrived in Luanda on a 17-hour flight

TAAG Linhas Aéreas de Angola announces today that it has received, in Luanda, Angola, the first of four 787 Dreamliner aircraft ordered from the manufacturer Boeing. The 787-9 jet, registration D2-TEQ, made a 17-hour flight, direct from Everett, in the USA, to the Angolan capital, arriving last Thursday:

The acquisition of the modern wide-body, long-range aircraft is part of TAAG's 2024-2029 strategic plan, with an emphasis on the fleet expansion and modernization program.

The aircraft presentation ceremony took place at the New Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport and was attended by institutional guests, diplomatic representations, entities from the civil aviation ecosystem, partners, corporate clients, among other guests.

The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, already decorated with TAAG's new branding, will guarantee the company's intercontinental connections, offering greater versatility and availability of aircraft in operation. In addition, it will meet the growing traffic demand and demand indicators from passengers and customers.

The configuration of TAAG's Boeing 787-9 has capacity for 313 passengers, 16 in business class and 297 distributed between economy and premium economy classes. The airline explains that the aircraft offers several advantages, such as greater fuel efficiency, greater comfort and space in the cabin for passengers, 70 m³ of total cargo volume, in addition to reduced noise pollution and emissions that are harmful to the environment.

The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, together with the deliveries scheduled for this year of previously ordered widebody aircraft, will boost TAAG's fleet modernization plans. This will strengthen its long-haul international operations, attracting more travelers and investors and promoting more dynamic trade exchanges for Angola.

“The delivery of the Boeing 787-9 is a key step in our strategy to modernize TAAG’s fleet,” said Nelson Rodrigues de Oliveira, CEO of TAAG Linhas Aéreas de Angola. “This aircraft brings the efficiency and versatility needed to meet the growing demands of the market, replace our aging wide-body fleet and provide a world-class onboard experience for our passengers.”

“The B787 Dreamliner will complement TAAG’s fleet of Boeing 737 and 777 aircraft as we continue to support the airline in its mission to connect people and places around the world,” said Anbessie Yitbarek, vice president of Boeing Commercial Sales for Africa. “Our 50-year partnership with TAAG Angola Airlines has been built on trust and shared goals, and together we look forward to many more years of successful collaboration and innovation.”
