Gulfstream G400: the company’s new all-new model makes its first flight using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF)
The new Gulfstream G400(image above) business jet completed its maiden flight on August 15, the company revealed.
The test aircraft took off from Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport at 9:04 a.m. and was in the air for 2 hours and 54 minutes.
On its first flight, the G400 reached a speed of Mach 0.85 and an altitude of 41,000 feet using a blend that included sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
The G400 was revealed by Gulfstream in 2021 as an aircraft between the G280 and G500.
The aircraft is powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada PW812GA engines, and advanced wings and winglets introduced on the G500 and G600.
In addition to a cruising speed of Mach 0.85, the jet can accommodate up to 12 passengers and fly distances of 4,200 nautical miles.
The program has been delayed and is scheduled to enter service in 2025. Two test jets are expected to be used in the type certification program with the FAA.
