Brazilian company exhibits electric plane for the first time

Embraer will exhibit for the first time the prototype of the electric plane, used as a testing platform for new aeronautical propulsion technologies. The public exhibition will take place between October 10th and 11th at the 30th edition of the SAE BRASIL International Mobility Congress and Exhibition, at the PRO MAGNO event center, in São Paulo.

With the theme “Driven by Innovation: We are the next generation of mobility”, this year's SAE Brazil Congress is also inspired by the notable inventions of Alberto Santos Dumont, the Father of Aviation. The event will be attended by authorities, industry leaders, academics, as well as experts in the most diverse areas of knowledge linked to themes involving mobility.

“The SAE Brazil Congress is a great opportunity to share innovations and trends with engineering professionals and students connected to the new era of sustainable mobility,” said Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO of Embraer, and President of this edition of the Congress. “The exhibition of the 100% electric test plane, among other technologies that will be presented at the international exhibition, illustrates Brazil's technological capacity to lead the global energy transition race through innovation and applied research.”

The demonstrator plane is used by Embraer's engineering department to accelerate knowledge of the technologies necessary to increase energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. Since 2020, when it made its maiden flight, the aircraft has been carrying out tests for pre-competitive research into the integration of innovative propulsion systems. The open innovation project counted on the collaboration of WEG and EDP.

During the event, Embraer will also promote interactive actions with visitors, who will be able to fly the new generation E2 commercial jet simulator and immerse themselves in virtual reality in the eVTOL, an electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicle for urban air mobility, from Eve. In addition, students will be able to learn about entry programs to work at the company and receive guidance on how to develop a career in the aerospace industry.
