Boeing reported today (11) that it delivered 266 commercial aircraft in the first half of 2023, up 23% over the same period last year, when 216 deliveries were recorded, but below the 316 aircraft delivered by Airbus.
In June alone, 60 aircraft were delivered, showing the best performance since last March. During the month, deliveries of 48 737 MAX, four 767, one 777, six 787, as well as a 737 that will be transformed into the military version P-8 Poseidon for South Korea were recorded.
In the first six months of the year, the highlight is the 737 MAX family, which corresponds to 81% of the aircraft delivered, totaling 216 units. In addition to the popular single-aisle aircraft, deliveries of one 747-8F, nine 767-300F, nine 777s, and 31 787 Dreamliners have been recorded.
Even with shortages in the supply chain and failures in the production of its main products, which directly affected deliveries, Boeing intends to reach the established target of between 400 and 450 MAX jets this year.
In June, sales of 288 aircraft were recorded, including the purchase of 220 jets by Air India confirmed during the 54th edition of the Paris Air Show.
Boeing won orders for 415 planes in the first half of 2023, short of Airbus' 1,044 orders, boosted by Indian carrier Indigo's acquisition of 500 A320neo, the largest purchase by a single airline.
