EMBRAER
C-390 cargo plane presented to Greek force
Embraer presented the C-390 to Greece, which learned about the capabilities and obtained general information about the multi-mission freighter. The Hellenic Air Force has shown interest in replacing its C-130 Hercules and is evaluating options on the market.
Military personnel from Greece, which is a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), had a meeting with the director of business development and sales at Embraer Defense and Security, Carla Salleron, on January 25th.
Details of the conversation were not passed on and, so far, there is no official negotiation between the parties. However, the Hellenic air force operates the C-130 Hercules in transport aviation, received in the 1970s and approaching the end of its operational life. The country had already shown interest in acquiring the second-hand C-130J Super Hercules from the Royal Air Force.
The Brazilian multi-mission freighter was sold to three NATO members, with Portugal having even received the first of five aircraft, followed by Hungary with two, and more recently the Netherlands, which ordered five units.
In Brazil, the FAB currently operates with five KC-390s, which are divided into two operational squadrons, the "Zeus" – headquartered in Anápolis, in Goiás, and the "Gordo", in Rio de Janeiro. The initial order, for 28 aircraft, was reduced to fifteen, with the possibility of adding some aircraft in the future.
